In terms of feminist socialist justice, is culture jamming making a difference? Is it too elitist to make a difference, or is guerrilla art - or civic art - an underground movement that 'speaks to the people'? Is culture jamming an effective feminist tool?

I think culture jamming definitely can make a difference. It is easily accessible, often public (hence accessible), and controversial. All of these factors make culture jamming true conversation starters. Conversation about issues is always good...it brings to mind the consciousness raising groups of second wave feminism. Also, after being introduced to much postmodern dribble this year I have a true appreciation for how culture jamming comes across as quite the opposite of elitist. This is not to say that the postmodernists aren't fantastic, but lets face it, Derrida is not as fun as culture jamming.

:) It's true...Derrida may not be as much fun as culture jamming [unless one is a theory geek].
